nel. Restaurant would definitely have made my list of top 5 eats of 2016 – if only I’d gotten round to putting up this post before the end of the year!
Yaaaaay it’s time for the annual Night Noodle Markets in Hyde Park again! Click through to see our recommendations on what to eat!
A cheeky girls day out doesn’t get much better than high tea, especially when it’s as decadent as the Designer Winter Afternoon Tea at The Langham. But get in quick – it’s only on til the end of August!!!
So obviously I knew about Chefs Gallery because it’s been around for ages. And I think I’d been before but don’t quite remember when or how or why, or even what the food was like. All I know is that before Cardinal Spin invited me to go, I had always thought of Chefs Gallery as a lesser cousin of Din Tai Fung where you can get dumplings but they’re better at Din Tai Fung so you might as well go there.
Turns out I was completely wrong!
Everyone was a bit sad when Kitchen by Mike closed its doors some months ago – casual dining wouldn’t quite be the same again without that roast pumpkin and pork belly that you could see with your greedy eyes before they plonked a healthy serving on your plate. There was something amazing about Mike McEnearney’s eatery in Rosebery, a very specific combination of cafeteria-style service, an open kitchen where you could see all your food being made, a deli and that massive warehouse space where you could sit wherever you wanted. Luckily for us, Mike hasn’t completely left the Sydney dining scene and recently opened in his new digs, No. 1 Bent Street.
Quick disclaimer about the photos – sorry they’re such bad quality! I forgot my camera but CK kindly allowed me to use hers, but you know how it is, different camera and all…
On February 20, 2016, DS and I made promises to each other that will last a lifetime – we got married! Without sounding like a cliché, it was truly the best day of our lives and everything we’d ever wished for our wedding day.
A massive part of the day was our reception at Mr Wong. We were the first ever wedding reception to book out the entire venue – on a Saturday night nonetheless! It was a huge privilege for us to be there and work with Dan Hong and the Mr Wong team. We cannot thank them enough for everything they did for us, as well as our other suppliers including our friend Emily from Boutierre Girls who worked tirelessly all day with her team on all our flowers, Andy Bowdy who created the most epic trio of cakes ever, The Distillery who made all our wedding stationary, Johanna Johnson for creating my red reception dress, Nicola Johnson for doing my hair and make-up, and last but not least, Jo Bartholomew who took all of these wonderful images below. Whilst I don’t normally share much of my personal life on this blog, Jo was kind enough to take photos of all the food we ate so that I can share it with you guys here on talk&spoon, so click through below and try not to drool!
